2024 Excavation And Open Day

A rim from a "Hooked rimmed mortaria", believed to date from 90 to 130 AD, found on the first day of our 2024 dig

We Are Back!

After last year and the excitement of our special find we decided to take a slightly different approach to this year’s dig.

We wanted to focus very much on the archaeology we were investigating last year. Much of it remains a mystery. What is the context of the overall site? Clearly Roman, but over what period was there a settlement there?

What other activities were taking place there and how does our site relate to the Roman villa not far away?

Our “dig” this year is continuing until the weekend of the 15th and 16th June. We are going to be telling you about the things we have found

You can also find out more by visiting us in person.
